Not sure who made it happen but to have Ato and Tim on the same broadcast is great. As a bonus the meet is on ESPN2 so hopefully a few people are actually watching it.

I second this. I pretty much mangasmed when I heard Hutchinson's voice.
Tim Hutchings 4 x 1 mile 90 secs recovery. (Horwill on Serpentine.org site)
Then same pace for 4th in the Olympic 5,000m. Can you put that on the front page for all those predict my 5km time posters to read!
I always remember watching a marathon, when a co commentator started waxing lyrical about a couple of fun runners getting married half way round. Hutchings chimed in with 'what a pair of idiots'!

Amen bother!
Having him on the broadcast is a game changer. It seems like someone is finally responding to the constant yelling about the poor quality of Track TV production in the US. I am ecstatic.
this is great. what a nice change!
A really pleasant surprise.
Agreed. Ato said they had a surprise for the distance fans. A nice one it is!
Tim is the Director of the Brighton (UK) Marathon which I will be running on April 10 - Good man.
Tim took over from Pat Butcher as commentator for Eurosport and has done a great job in Europe for many years. It would be great to hear more of him on US TV.
can't even get a good announcer.
Thak you ESPN. Do we get to keep him? Please?
Yes me too! I am so happy he was broadcasting. I hope he will be on all the televised U.S. meets.
Tim called out the other commentator (not Ato) for asking why the pacer kept looking back. Why do you think fool??
One problem with US commentators is they tend to mostly talk about the favorites whereas British commentators give their fair share of fame to the front runner - favorite or not.
No blah, blah, blah about who got married and keeping their new names straight. I locked in when I heard Tim's voice! Great commentator. Love hearing stats on athletes, analysis before, during and after events and excitement in this sport from commentators. That keeps the die-hard fans happy and engages the casual fan. Keep Tim!!

Lewis Johnson actually paced on the circuit for a couple of years and Dwight is a hiyumper so I'd say Stones made the comment. Johnson should have explained the job of wabbit years ago when he started doing color/interviews.
I doubt adding a guy from T-dad&T-go and a Brit is going to save Athletics in the USA. Maybe in the short run USAians will start calling the sport Athletics.
If they continue to fill up airtime with useless interviews like "Pant pant I went out pant fast and pant tried to hold it pant pant" " My plan was to run to win" at least they can do is set up a remote feed with Larry Rawson running around his local HS track!!
TH is nice guy but a weak talent.
The only obvious must have T&F announcer is San Jose CA Piedmont High School's and UCLA's Ato Bolden.
TH did a great job. It was great to have a knowledgable distance runner doing commentary. The enthusiasm from all three was great.
The Rabbit discussion was good-I'm sure Stones knows what's what. But, the casual viewer got a good "Q&A".
