Why are the mzungu now soft?

Western culture has made "us" soft. Even the tough ones are softer than they used to be.

You don't have to reject it just don't let it make you soft.

I notice that so many kids are afraid of competition. We actually have kids who join our track team and say they don't want to compete.

One kid joined the team and the second day quit because "track isn't what I thought it'd be- we do too much running."

Grant, a park guide in Kasungu National Park in Malawi, got it right when he said to us, "Azungu weak." The lifestyle and attitudes weakened a lot of people. You look at those old 1977 World Cup videos and you see the azungu looking tough and confident and lacking any belief that African/African American runners are naturally superior. All that sure changed in a few years.

Yes. It is telling that the current champion of the mzungu is... the French sprinter Lemaitre!
