So I have just started training again recently.
I have been very active for the past couple of years, but haven't done much running. Maybe running 3 days out of the week, plus weightlifting and all that kind of stuff.
Anyways, I am looking at running some road races and indoor track meets leading up to some outdoor stuff.
The last race I ran was a 16:35 5k in July, off of about 2 weeks of running.
I am at about 2 weeks now, and want to run a 5k next weekend.
I am shooting for around 16:00.
Here is what my training has been so far.
Some functional movement training/light weightlifting in the mornings.
Every day, between 40 minutes to an hour run.
The 40 minutes run tended to be uptempo, closer to tempo pace, basically from getting a little overzealous and wanting to run fast.
So I stopped that.
Haven't done any workouts, and don't plan to for about 2 more weeks.
May be a tempo run once a week from here on out.
So I am at about 45 miles per week, I would say.
Anyways, this is just to track my training, and to get advice from all of you people who are smarter than me with this stuff.
No background history is really necessary, as it isn't really that relevant.
The 16:35 5k i ran within the year will be my starting point.
So next week I hope to shave off about 35 seconds, and just continue on from there.
By the end of February, if I can find any indoor track meets, I would like to be around 15:30 or faster for 5k, and under 2 minutes for the 800.
