Her twitter said she was going over to the meet to run a few laps so I dont think she or koll were planning on racing hard.. koll did break barringer dempsey fieldhouse record
Nice running by Koll.
Thanks for the update.
Shalane's plan was to pace 2 km. and then complete her workout...
She is fit and fast! and Koll hung on really well
Why?
Flanagan couldn't do that workout closer to home? No track's in Oregon?
WTF is up with runners these days?
Shit or get off the pot. Race or do a workout.
A four second PR for Koll.
I don't know if it's an ego problem or perhaps their coaches/agents/sponsors are advising them(today's young runners)to race only when they're "peak" shape... I simply don't get it. In my opinion, each race is a different story and for the most part plays out differently than the prior one. In order to get better at racing and actually learning how to win races takes practice! Racing less than 15 times per year has never made any sense to me.......

no, in fact there aren't any indoor tracks in oregon, you heinously ignorant fool.
I think these two might be hesitant to race eachother in such a head-to-head type setting. They've been doing the thing girls always do when they become friends where they are really over the top about trying to make sure every one knows that they REALLY like eachother and are TOTALLY BFFS...or flanagan might have just not felt like racing this soon after NYC...who knows

Ever hear of helping out a friend?
Looks like she was pacing.
Nice effort. You can hear the announcer say 'As expected" just after Flanagan pulls off after 2k. Nice to see her rabbit. Unselfish.
Of course I would like to see more of the top male and female runners actually race more also.
That sure is a terrible video, about 3 frames a second and keeps stopping and starting.
There is an indoor track at the U of P
Other results:
Vessey as usual, sleepwalks the first 400 w/collegiates, then takes off for 68.7/60.4 split
Elijah Greer 1:18 unpressed
Bumbalough swapped lead with Braun last 400 for 2:04/155-6 split.

Maybe you didn't let it buffer all the way? It was perfect when I watched it.
Remember when Solinsky got mad at Teg at Trials for bailing on the pace late into the race? Jerry will have a tough time with high strung athletes in same events. Don't know what it is about Shalane (maybe why she left Cook because she wasn't his #1 priority due to Rowbury), but I think Jerry has to really watch her "happiness" as well as training.
This, any other modern 3000-meter result, begs the question:
"How f'in fast is 8:06!?!"
I know this was an indoor 3000 and all that, but really.

You don't need an indoor track to do a workout when there is no snow on the ground. Unless of course your a pussy like you who needs perfect weather to train or you run indoors on your treadmill.
Time to strap on a pair folks.
I'm just curious- where are you from? In Upstate NY we have days with temps in the low teens and wind chills sub zero. Sometimes the sun is shining and the track is clear. Only an idiot would do a workout outside.
What you an handle is relative. If the temps in the high 20's my runners will say it's warm.
It's been in the 50's here in Portland for the last five days. Today it's almost 60. Pretty balmy and certainly fine weather for outdoor track sessions.
