It blows my mind when I read posts which again and again refer to El G as the greatest middle-distance runner of all-time. He is surely the FASTEST 1500, Miler, 2K runner of all time, but the GREATEST? It could be argued that his predecessor, Morceli, has a greater claim to that throne. Also to be thrown into the pot are of course Coe, Ovett, Elliot et al.
Keep in mind I am not trying to open the debate as to who the greatest ever was. I'm just trying to create a distinction between GREATEST and FASTEST.
Let's set the record straight on El G!

There is definitely a difference between being the greatest and being the fastest. That being said:
I think the greatest middle distance runner of all time is Daniel Lafferty. He was on my high school team. He may not be the fastest ever... but I don't think anyone can dispute his greatness. -
don't forget to mention that i was playing partner with happy gilmour during his first ever tournament, that surely makes me great.

Hahaha! I truly thought that would go unnoticed.
I used to work in a video store...certain names are just ingrained in my head.
