I thought I would post on here to see if anyone could help me out.
A few weeks ago, after an end-of-season time off period (low to no mileage), I began running again. The first day was rainy and very cold so I ran indoors in a 300m circle (one direction). The next day I noticed the inner side of my knee hurting. With icing and ibuprofen, the pain disappeared until about this past week. The strange thing was, it didn't appear during my run, or even right after it, but rather at around 9:00 PM that night. So I iced it some more, but the next day it hurt too much to run on, so I've taken some days off to see if it gets better.
Well, what's odd is that in this period of no running, my knee will be feeling great (as though I could run on it), and then at some point randomly during the day, I'll take a step and suddenly there is an intense pain so bad I sort of just fall to the floor. Then I'll go another day, my knee will feel fine again, and the same thing happens.
It's sort of hard to describe the pain, but it almost seems like some muscle on the side of my knee. It doesn't really match IT band symptoms, so I don't know what this is.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
