After reading the message boards for a few days and seeing the fall-out, I believe it is time for someone to come in and shed some light on these ugly circumstances-
1) The disdain for Boaz in the MAC has nothing to do with his race. It is because the majority of the people in the MAC feel he has raced professionaly in Europe prior to coming to the States.
2) John Goodrich has every reason in the world to be upset-that is his right. However, he is bringing shame to himself and to EMU by his constant whining in the Press. It is very similar to Llyod Carr and the "we deserved better" after last year's MSU / U of M football clock scandal. Yes John, it is unfortunate that you lost- but sometimes life is UNFAIR.
3) EMU has filed a protest with the MAC Offices pertaining to the results. Miami has filed a protest with the MAC Offices pertaining to EMU "lying" about what happened- the moral of this story- THE TRUTH WILL NOT COME OUT.
4) CMU handled their victory admirably. They understand that EMU was the better team that day and that's why they aren't running around touting themselves as great.
5) Craig Fuller is not a racist, does not have poor sportsmanship towrds EMU anymore than John Goodrich is sore loser/ whiner. Sometimes in the heat of competition grown men act in ways that they regret- I sure in the coming weeks both John and Craig will wish they behaved differently pertaining to certain instances.
6) The two most important races for both EMU and CMU are still forthcoming. It's time to move on and focus on bringing glory to the Conference.
7) EVERYBODY needs to stop- the MAC does not need to be the laughingstock of the College CC world any longer than we already have been the last three days. We are all grown men, it is time to start acting like it.
8) Finally, and most importantly EMU raced fantastically on Saturday. Instead of focusing on the negative- use this result as a learning experience and make sure everybody is prepared for Districts and Nationals.
