I think that'a Sischo or however you spell it.
That photo is of Katie Sischo, not Christie Rutlege.
I don't feel like digging through year-old JV results.. but just how slow was Christine Rutledge a year ago? I mean, to be No. 7 on FM's JV squad, I'm assuming you still have to, like, break 20 for 5k. Am I wrong?

Do those FM girls hit the weight room? She looks pretty solid! Good to see!
2 Christine Rutledge F-M 20:21 104.0
From their league championships last year. By far her best race of the season judging by previous results.
10 Rutledge, Christie 10 Fay-Manlius 24:25.2 31.6
Early season last year, their 6th JV girl.
Not quite a Rutledge story but I had a girl go from barely breaking 25:00 to sub 21:30 in a few weeks. She decided she wanted to be a good runner. If she didn't wait till senior year, who knows?

where they also ran 9 girls in varsity, so she was 15th on the team
Obviously what Christie Rutledge did is very impressive but its really not unheard of...my high school team we had three girls take around three minutes off their times from sophomore to junior year. There was one girl who went from mid 24's to mid 21's, one girl went from high 24's to 21 flat, the third girl went from 23's to 20 flat. Combining the improvements of those three girls with a soccer transfer who could run 20 flat, a 21 minute girl who went down to around 20 flat and a girl going from 20:15 down to low 19's it took us from a team that no one knew to a serious contender for our county title for the next 4 years. The culture of the team changed. Christie Rutledge must have just hit her stride and made a decision to really go along with the culture that has been prevalent on the FM team.
going from 24's to 20's is a hell of a lot different than going from 20+ to second in the country.
You have a point. But I would say there's a huge difference between improving that much on a team like FM or Saratoga that's a national powerhouse and making improvements on a normal team.

I disagree. I was reading the story on the homepage and started thinking "this is unheard of. How slow was she last year?" So I then searched and found this thread before starting a new one.
Sure a lot of people may take 3 minutes off but they don't do it and become #2 at NXN.
Anyone know her track times from last year?
I think the point is: who knows who could be a good or even great runner? You never know unless you put in the work. At another school, without the motivation of her teammates and coach, she may have stayed a 24:00 runner.
I know a coach who thinks that decent high school runners who run 4 miles at 9-10/mile are training hard.
He'll never coach a Christie Rutledge.
From Tully Runners:
Christie Rutledge 10 03 FM Dual Meet 5/5/2010 3000m 1 10:47.0
Christie Rutledge 10 03 FM Chittenango Inv 5/1/2010 1600m R 5:23.6
Wow, slightly above average miler to 2nd at NXN in 6 months.
That is really crazy.

I am not a suspicious guy, but I am suspicious.
What is going on up there?
I have no idea but I'm sure the FM shills will come on here and say they don't emphasize track and whatever else.
This girl has probably lived in the Bill Aris running/diet/sleeping cocoon this year. I wonder if he can get them all to crap simultaneously and in identical portions?
Do the FM teams always do barefoot striders to cool down?
Even if it's cold?
10:47 3K equals about 11:4x for 3200. How good are the runners she beat at nxn? 10:20? Better?
She was very giggly in her post-race interview. Given that improvement, I can't blame her.
