Campolindo (Moraga) just missed having two girls go to nationals. Their #2 girl was 11th.

Im pretty sure hes also from kenya or eritrea or ethiopia or one of those. Not sure if he was born i nthe US. If he was, then fine, if he wasn't then gtfo kenya. You can have the olympics, we want our high schoolers to have soemthing.
And chyeaaa Billy Orman won! Hes a beast! Turned down nxn to do FLW. He will probably get 3rd at least. I hope hes in the mix for 1st though. But it will prolly be Verzbicas, Zeinalassie, then him.

I believe they are proposing giving white kids a 30 second head start. I doubt that will make a difference though.

Julia Foster of NM also made the same decision as Billy, winning nxn sw but opting out and putting it all on the line to run FL. Julia also qualified for FL nationals on Saturday, placing 9th at FL west. Gutsy moves by both athletes. Billy has said his motivation was loyalty to FL since he ran it last year and was treated well. He's not a kid who shirks competition, as some on this message board have written. I don't know Julia's motivation - it may have had something to do with her school team not qualifying for nxn. Not sure. I wish them both all the best at nationals.

Thanks very much for that info. I didn't know this - congrats to all of them. I don't know any of them, but I'll be cheering them on in San Diego. Unfortunate for the girl who placed 11 - she deserves a lot of respect in my book for a valiant effort.
