For a research paper final.
You never hear about the best HEAD coaches running credentials?? Most of them came from the NCAA but not many were big time runners? Why do you think that is?? Which ones were great???

I think you may want to examine your assertions before putting forth an arguement.
I am taking a coffee break and can think of 4 and I am just being parochial here:
1- Alberto- Oregon
2- Randy Thomas - BC
3- Matt Kerr- BC
4- Ray Treacy- Providence
mark conover at poly was an all american in all 3 divisions i hear.
Al Sal is not a NCAA XC coach. He is a Nike employee.

I hear the Villanova men also have a pretty fast HC...
Many XC coaches were outstanding runners in their day.
Ricardo Santos was All-American at Iona?
Thats pretty good.
John McDonnel All American XC and Track, also ran for the NYAC
alex gibby
kathy newberry
jason dunn
chris miltenberg
Not an NCAA team but the head coach of the 2-time NAIA champion womens XC team from Cal State San Marcos is a "pretty good" runner named Steve Scott.
Matt Centrowitz at American U.
What class is this for?
Plasencia at Minnesota
Ed Eyestone (BYU) was like a state champion or something back in high school.
Eyestone was also one of the best NCAA runners ever. He was also a five time NCAA champ and the NCAA American record holder for 10k before Ritz broke the record.
Steve Taylor
Steve Spence, though not Div-1
Bill Dellinger
Corey Ihmels @ Iowa State - Kinney National Champion in High School and 6 time All-American in college
Good point. I did qualify that I was both taking a break and parochial. Al Sal was a local favorite when he was a kid.
I laughed at the Onion guy.
What do you mean by good?
NCAA All American? Top five at NCAAs? NCAA champ?
What about runners who excelled more post collegiatly compared to college or runners who ran better in NCAA than post college?
Anyway,
Gray coaches UCLA
Quitana coaches Arizona St.
Gary coaches Ohio St.
Schumacher ex-Wisconsin coach
Lindgren coaches Hawaii girls
