I do one a week. I usually do them twice a week if I don't have a meet.
Every week, of course during racing season (haven't you even watched FloTrack Long Run?). No more than 25% of weekly mileage.
yeah i also go with once a week, except in the last week or two before the race you want to peak for. then i leave it out
Okay and would you guys recommend this for a high school guy that runs the 2 mile as his main event, along with the 4x8 and mile on occasion? I'm thinking 90 minutes would be fine, right?
assuming you have 2-3 big season finale / peaks a year... you probably only want to drop the long run for the 7-10 day run in to them, otherwise keep it going.
