Word. I wasn't going to reference FOX, but I was thinking the same thing. He sounds like he's in a good place mentally. He said what almost every top runner from every top team says--It's all about placing low for the benefit of the team. But you better believe that if the door is open, he'll remind us that his flashes of greatness were not fluke.

I don't take that quote as anything more than an acknowledgment of how dominant Chelanga is right now. "Not my year" to beat the 27:08 guy is hardly a defeatist attitude, especially given his injury issues the last 18 months or so.

No, he doesn't say anything about Chelanga and why would he when he hasn't been even as good as Lowe or Mecheso this season? My interpretation is that he knows that he is not 100 percent this year and is not crushing his workouts.

this was right after a mention of his not having won a race this year (losing to teammates in not-all-out efforts)

this is what prompted him to say 'maybe it's not my year,' which was probably a pretty light-hearted response to his lack of "victories" this year.

I would love to see the response on here if he had said "This is my year". You would be bashing him for being over-confident.

German Fernandez is a team first guy. This is his year -- again.

I'm happy to see 100th place go to 7th. If he came out last year and ran like 7:51, should have no problem running his PRs of 3:55/7:47 again this winter, an no reason to think he won't go faster. The kid's 3k potential for this upcoming indoor season is scary. Could have something like 3:54-55 and 13:30ish on either end..
