Not trying to be a dick as it is an impressive record I'm sure, but I am confused because their placing is not amazing. Was the course extremely fast for some reason? Extremely deep state this year? Central Catholic from Portland Oregon scored 23 points at state a few years ago when they were a top 10 NTN team, but they were not even close to the all time record.

Were there some stacked teams this year or is there something I'm not getting?

This is New Jersey, it is deep every year. CBA is a top 3 team nationally and this is the best performance in state history.I still think they are behind two or three teams, but when you have Tom Heath as your coach anything is possible and a win at nats is not out of the question.

great runners and great weather make record breaking performances. New jersey and California HS XC are amazing this year

Yeah, I saw that also... Did they water down the Holmdel course somehow (better footing, wider paths?) or have the state's runners just stepped up that much? <16 could have won MOC consistently quite a few years back, and <16:10 should be a top 5 finish.

If nothing has changed, WOW, the state is ridiculously strong right now.

..nothing has changed. New Jersey has just really stepped up recently.

wow, that is downright impressive...

Course is definitely faster that back before 2000 but nothing to account for this kind of across the board improvement.

No I was one of the runners who attended "bennett running camp" this summer. Coach Bennett seems to have much more of an influence on the runners, he teaches them the drills, he leads them through core workouts, the only thing he doesn't do is call himself the head coach, out of respect for Coach Heath.

Bennett is a nice guy, and will be a great head coach some day. But he's nowhere near the head coach right now.

Heath: 16 MOC titles.

Bennett: 0 MOC titles.

What does that prove? You could cite Joe Paterno's record if you wanted but he sure as hell isn't coaching Penn State. Great performance by CBA - their 5th man's time would be an excellent team average in most years. Good race from Haddonfield too, most people had them in 6.
