At the race and watch a cocky OSU take OU for granted and proceed to panic the last 2k in effort to beat OU. German got dropped in addition.
Seeing the faces of the OU guys, they just wanted it more. Simple as that.

So, basically what you're telling us is that Oklahoma burnt itself out for Nationals in a qualifying race in which OK State didn't even run Girma?
I'm not sure what there is to discuss.

Nothing to discuss..Girma did not run and as German said they were only running to get into NCAA'S.
Stanford did the same thing. Just running to get in.
true, why waste a hard effort when you got the big dance coming up. They were just getting a good workout in while OU was running doing everything they could to win a meaningless race
OSU definitely didn't panic. Fernandez could have won that at 100% effort if needed to. No point though as the optimal condition for an additional 15s of effort would have been he and Lowe going 1-2, which was a questionable variable with K. Schwab battling fervently FTW.
Well, Wisconsin did the same thing, but got their Number 5 guy to finish second. (and virtually all the top 5 are 10k guys, not 1500-3000SC)

How hard do you think OU was actually running? Do you think their coach has never "raced" Regionals before?
you don't run 2 all out 10k efforts 9 days apart, that would be stupid. Save it for Monday.
I simply want to comment on the "DEMOLISHES" part of it.
Oklahoma won 43-50. That really isn't many points considering Minnesota scored 119.
I was at the meet, and it wasn't until I got home did I realize that Oklahoma won (I couldn't stay for the awards).
I don't mean this to diss Oklahoma at all, I hope they beat Oklahoma State at Nationals, but they didn't win by a significant margin.
Oklahoma State and Oklahoma will compete in cross country and football in Stillwater the week of November 27. Cross will be for the national championship and football will be for the Big 12 South championship.
I'll take Oklahoma State in both competitions.

You're an idiot.
/disussion
If you were at the race then you would have realized a few things:
1. They only won by 7 points.
2. Girma didn't even run and he's a top 10 guy in the country.
3. Another one of OSU's guys lost his shoe early in the race and ended up further back than he's capable.
With that being said, if you watched OSU closely during the race, you would have realized they ran EFFORTLESSLY. CLowe was 100 meters behind Schwab with like a K to go and rolled him up with ease. German didn't even try to go with Lowe but watching him finish he was looking around, good form, not struggling, practically yawning...
Sure Oklahoma might have wanted a little bit more today, but OSU wants it more next Monday and just did what it had to do to qualify. We'll see what the outcome is then...
Here's my observations:
1.) German got dropped and just hung in 3rd since he couldn't catch two better runners. 2.) If you were there, Colby went to the ground like 30 seconds after the race. It appeared to be a cramp, if that means anything. 3.) Thomas F. for OSU, appeared to be clearly laboring as he finished. 4.) After that, OSU has a weaker 5th than Oklahomas. 6.) OSU hasn't lost a region championship in a several years, they had NO intention of getting curbed stomped like that, but perhaps they'll get it together for NCAA's.
Haha- shut up. It was a tempo run for OSU for Christ's sake!

You skipped 5, retard.
It really doesn't matter who won or who was trying or anything like that.
All that matters is that they both have a race next Monday that will decide who is the better team.
On that fronf I fully expect OSU to be well ahead of OU, but I'm not sure about their prospects for the win.
There must be a reason for Girma not running, so if he wasn't just rested then they may have a problem there. Also I do think their 5th man will be a problem and I have a feeling one of their established top 4 from this season will not perform next monday.
Dave Smith said in an interview a couple days ago that he was resting Girma so that he wouldn't rip a race and be tired for next Monday.
I think it's great that Martin and his team qualified for NCAA's. However if you know anything about college cross country you know that the good teams do just enough at the regional to move on to the national. I can't tell you how many times our Wisconsin teams sat guys out and ran a smart race only to win by a couple. The nationals is what matters and a lot of those teams that ran hard to get in will blow up at the NCAA's. Martin was our coach during that time, He and his team did what they had to do and i'd be shocked if they beat State at the NCAA's.
By the way, look out for the Badgers, they're loaded with 5k\10k guys this year.
7/10
Nice one. A little bit obvious, but you actually got a reaction out of some people.
