Why is Letsrun fawning all over GEB for NYC marathon?

he broke sixty for 1/2 marathon (59:33), so he was obviously in great shape.

He didn't "fleece" anyone. NYRR chose to pay him an appearance fee. Furthermore, all this hype about Geb and the NY marathon has given way more coverage to the NY Marathon than had he even won.

He was saving face and it looked pathetic (slow talkers always trying to inspire). I though his fake retirement was terrible and the LETSLOVEGEB coverage has been a joke. The sport wouldn't be the same without him? Really?

oh come on. this is typical letsrun. are you new here? they are total bandwagon folks. when he sets a WR, he ducked the competition, and can't win the big one. when he retires, they get all misty eyed because it's cool and nostalgic.

As far as Letsrun fawning over Geb, if he really did line up in his last race it is a really big deal.

His 7 Gold medals, ground breakig world records, range of distance and range of years is worth a bit of retrospection as it concludes.

I think he will race again and until he files for retirement he isn't retired.

Yes, finality to his career would be bigger news than winning this particular event.

Ah, so a 1.5 hours of work is a ripoff but a little over 2 hours of work is worth it? They paid him to APPEAR. The greatest runner in the history of running. They got their money's worth and then some.

Didn't they do an x-ray or MRI on his knee and the fluid build up was identified by a doctor? That was an NYC doctor, probably one arranged by NYRR. No phantom injury there.

Yeah. Cause it's not like they had drug testing after his last 2 world records or anything. Or after all of his 27 world records. They only had it for this one race.
