Running a marathon in January and I'm planning on buying my race flats soon so I can break them in during a few workouts between now and the marathon.
I don't know what to get so I'd like some help. Do you guys prefer the Nike Streak 3 or the Lunar Racer's (original or 2). Please compare them based on experience?

I've been running in the streak 3 plus PF orthodics every day for about 2 months ~650 miles. they feel great- a lot like the original streak xc and are supportive enough with the orthodics. i tried on the lunar races and didnt like them too much. the upper feels like a basketball shoe or something
I've trained in streak 3s and lunarracers original and 2 and preferred the streak 3s by far. The original lunarracer tore my feet up, lunarracer 2 I was not impressed with. The streak 3s are very comfortable, I would recommend wearing socks with them in January because the uppers are mesh.
Thanks for helping. I had heard from some people that the streak just doesn't have the support for a marathon, but I'm sure it's different for people running 4+ hours compared to 2:40's.
This will be my first marathon. I have spend my entire running career focusing on the 5k and 10k. While I know alot about running, Im just not sure on the best shoes for the marathon. My goal is sub-2:45, and I'm putting in the training to do it, so I'm looking for the best possible advantages to help, so that includes the best racing flat. If anyone has any more suggestions, they would be very much appreciated.
i train in the asics tarthers flat. they are pretty firm. seem like they would be perfect for a slightly supported marathon race

I've used the original Zoom Streak for the marathon with no problems. Plan to use the newer mesh version in the spring.
I train in the first Lunar Racer and Free's. (Depending on socks of the day) I sometimes have trouble getting the heel counter pulled snug on the Lunars...but never results in blisters. Have always been able to train in flats. I'm lucky in that I don't need much shoe.
Lunar Racer 3 is out soon and will be going back to be more like the first version.
One complaint I have of the Lunar's is the flywire traps dirt. Those things get nasty if you wear them as often as I.
Compare Please - The most perceptible difference between the two is the ride. Lunaracer is quite soft and accommodating whereas Streak 3 is more firm and responsive. Both are similar in weight.
Streak 3 will do a bit more of the work for you via responsiveness whereas Lunaracer will absorb more of the impact and leave you feeling less beat up over similar mileage. In the end it really comes down to what sort of ride you prefer over the long haul.
