After Meb and Ritz's NY marathon performances, coupled with Hall's inability to get fit since his 2:06, it seems pretty clear that the US no longer has an elite marathoner capable of running sub 2:10.
Meb's career highlight was NY last year, and he will not likely break 2:10 again after that peak performance. Ritz is simply too fragile and lacks the endurance needed for the late race fast running to allow him to get under the 2:10 barrier. And Hall, who is distracted by his faith can't seem to get to the same level of fitness he achieved in earlier years, and as a runner without a coach is likely headed for bigger failures.
So what's left? Not much in the way of up and coming talent capable of even threatening 2:11-2:12. In a country with a population of in excess of 300M people, competitive distance running seems doomed!Lot's of people out running the marathon, but the reality is most are just joggers...!
Gotta Love It! At the present time, the USA is not able to produce one sub-2:10 marathoner!
