I started out with a summer of 60mpw consistently and felt great. Ran 29:37 first meet after going out in 5:30, so I thought I had much room for improvement. Next meet paced a little more even and ran 29:42, then a 30:27 at Griak (hillier so makes sense).
After that, I felt that my school's food was making me too fat to compete at my best...so for two days I underate...maybe had one sandwich and bowl of cereal each day for two days straight...about 15 miles in the two days. I lost a lot of weight, but did I ruin my season and cause my body to eat muscle? I didn't feel week those days, but the after effects seemed to prove my downfall. In four other meets on flat courses, I never broke 30 again.
