Not too long off the plane and out of an orphange in Kenya he wasted little time in showing his talent. The 16 year old Sophmore Edward Cheserek (So) broke one of the nations best x-country runners Jeramy Elkaim (Sr) 14:55on his way to his amazing course record. Both Cheserek and Elkaim broke the one year old course record of 14:56 by Dave Oster.
Good grief, the "kid" looks 29 years old.
Wow, wow for both of those young runners.
``I’m happy to get the record, but I think I can run even faster, maybe 14:30 on this course,’’ Cheserek said.
JERAMY ELKAIM, who set the NJSIAA Meet of Champions 3,200 record of 8:46.04 last spring, was gracious in defeat.
``He’s one of the most talented runners I’ve ever seen,’’ Elkaim said. ``He’s strong and has plenty of foot speed. What he did today was ridiculous. He just broke me I guess and was the better runner.’’
Not that impressive. This "16 year old" is running times that most people his age in Kenya would run.
The kid just got to U.S. less than 3 months ago after being an orphan. The fact that he completely broke Jeramy Elkaim who ran 8:46 for 2 miles is very impressive for the 16 year old Kenyan. Give Edward time as you have only seen the tip of what this young runner will do this year.

Suleiman Nyambui was a 27 year old sophmore for UTEP back in the day....I'm sure this young man was 16, but that was probably 3 or 4 years ago.

Just because American kids have it easy and don't have to live the harsh and stressful lives of Africans I guess you wouldn't look like most 16 year old Africans. The defination and strength comes from the hard and very strenous lives the young live in Africa.

One of the posters who I certainly listen to when they post it is VIPAM. There are a few poster who are intelligent enough to just walk way from such street grossip; however those number are dwindling.
