Anyone else think Bairu is going to prove to be a better marathoner than Ritz? I have a feeling he is going to beat Ritz in New York.

not a chance
Why would you think this?
Ritz has a comparable 10k time and faster times at everything else.
Crazier things have happened. Bairu isn't afraid of the marathon. This might produce a great result, but it also might destroy him in the latter stages of the race. I think Ritz's experience with the marathon, more so than his superior talent, will give him the edge over Bairu in New York. But if Bairu goes for it and is feeling good on the day, he could shake things up.
I think Bairu in going to do well in the NYCM, but Ritz is at a different talent level and I would expect him to be at least a minute faster than Bairu. Ritz has always been a better distance runner than Hall, who has run 2:06, but for a variety of reasons, he just hasn't run a great marathon yet. If Ritz runs up to what many of us think his capabilities are, he will be competing for victory at NYCM.
Anybody that can run a sub-13 5k, w/o being able to run a 4 minute mile obviously has a lot of endurance.
lol ritz can't run sub 4? the guy can probably run 3:55 let alone sub 4.
ritz will beat him
I'm not so sure this time around. I question how ready Ritz is for this one. I would actually expect Bairu to beat him this time.

That's what I'm wondering. It seems like indications at first were that he missed a good chunk of training and hopped in a bit too quickly. didn't he even say that the real end goal was a strong spring marathon? Now people seem to have these grand expectations.
With that said, I'm not sure how Bairu will do in his first marathon, but I think he's got a big upside at the distance.
If they both run halfway decent races I would say Ritz around 2:10 and Bairu around 2:12. One of them could bust out a really good one though, or one of them could blow up, so there's still a good chance the order is reversed.

Check to batteries in your logic inspector tool because you've got a bunk posit there. Yes, I'm taking the bait.
In 2009 Ritz finished second to Hall at the US OlyTrials. I am pretty sure that statistic disproves your "always been a better distance runner" statement. Hall has dipped under Ritz's PB five (5) times. Please revise to "rarely".
And is this whole idea of being better than your bests something out of the Salazar camp? First Galen, now Ritz. Screw PBs and SBs...lets just go on what we say we think we can do!
Also, your he pronoun is somewhat vague if you're going for straight up coherence here....susan.
Ritz will run AT LEAST sub 2:09
learn to read. Ritz has been better distance runner. Everything but the marathon he has been better than hall. Also beat him in the olympics.

Ritz will run 2:08.18 being pulled behind Haile who will run 2:06.45. Bairu in at 2:09.00.

agree totally
ritz IS a better distance runner than hall, has been since high school. He also trains better (my opinion) and is tougher. Go watch footlocker nats from their hs years on youtube. Who cares who won at trials. And yes, ritz's hs dominance is relevant here because the marathon is probably a better fit for him than the 5k was back in hs.
Ritz for the win!
I'm glad he doesn't talk himself up, but he's got a legit chance in my opinion. I bet Geb drops out for one reason or another. And Bairu will run solid. Maybe 3rd.
In the end who knows but at this marathon ritz will prevail. Very few guys knock it out of the park on their first marathon. Bairu will have to learn how to run the marathon just like everybody else.
