Baltimore is the worst large city I have seen in terms of crime. Ok, Detroit may be as bad, but Baltimore is simply shocking.
Billions in social spending over the years. Nothing really works because the cultural problem is immense.
What grabs me is that the community at large doesn't really insist on change. And in this case, it looks like the best of the best in the community has been shot - will it motivate anyone?

I don't know if it's true anymore but Bmore used to be the homicide capital of the nation. A very dangerous town if you go one or two lights too far north or west from the Inner Harbor.

This is a loss. A friend of a friend was murdered in Baltimore recently. Similar situation, walking home (from the bus station) and talking on the phone with his mother.
