What is Pete Watson's reputation as a coach/person? I'm looking there for school and need help. Don't know much about him.

Clearly a post to have pete watson discredited. Get used to it, UNC is here to stay.
No im actually serious...
Why don't you ask athletes that he's actaully coached. Do a little reserach, get some names/email addresses and write to them.
Why would you come here for that info.? Everything you will read here will be hearsay/and second hand info.
Its also a sure fire way to set him up to be flamed here.....so if your serious get your butt off here and actually communicate with people who dont hide behind anonymous names
I don't really like Watson, but I completely agree with the above posts. If you are serious about this at all, you should not be asking on letsrun.
If Watson has not contacted you about running at UNC then don't bother attending (unless you want to be a normal UNC student)

Because for some reason, he actually lurks and posts on this board under his real name.
Watson is a great dude and he was coached by an even greater dude. Hopefully he will finally put the UNC mens team on the map.
coach watson is legit. got a great class and they are running great. ranked for the first time in at least 10 years. seems affable enough on flotrack stuff, but listen to posts above. get up with guys on the team now or auburn guys and decide for yourself
He dresses like a clown and parents might be worried if indeed coaches at University are to be regarded as teachers too. However, he has brught a ton of enthusiasm and more importantly, some expectations to one of the coolest schools in the country. Pete will have them top 10 consistently withing 3 years.

Yes it is important to consider how your coach dresses when choosing one's school to attend.
Call me crazy but I'd consider the man's character and results as a coach ahead of his fashion sense.
When I was being recruited someone told me to contact an athlete that ran for the coach that did really well, and also one that didn't do so well.
Usually the athlete that did well will say good things. But the athlete who didn't perform as well should still say the coach treated them well.
Some guys got kicked off the team sometime in the last year. You may want to contact them and find out what the reasons were (I have a good idea about it but don't want to say anything false), but if you do keep in mind that they'll naturally be upset just for being kicked off.

That might be the worst advice ever given on this message board. Why would you ask for advice from someone who you won't ever be teammates with? Obviously they could not contribute meaningfully and be a positive part of the program - hence, they are no longer a part of it.
Just talk to Coach Watson directly.

Who was his coach? Thanks in advance.

One presumes that means Coach Cleary (West Virginia),from when they had a men's program.
the coach you're interested in kicked almost everyone off the team, and it's not worth hearing both sides of the story? I sure as heck would want to know why that happened before running for him. Watson will surely say they deserved to be kicked off, partied too much, something like that. which may be true, but it's worth asking about.

And by "Coolest" you clearly mean douchiest, most arrogant, and gayest school south of Harvard.
You forgot Yale, Brown, Columbia, Princeton, Villanova, Lasalle, St. Joes, Georgetown, William and Mary, JMU (arrogant and terrible), and Duke. Good work.
