People do not pay attention. Anyone that thinks that Ryan would be best served by moving to OTC or any other training group is ignorant. Ryan trained alone in Mammoth. He never trained with Meb or Dan Browne or anyone else because he didn't want anyone else governing his effort. RYAN doesn't want a training partner. Whether or not this is in his best interest is irrelevant. He wants to train alone.

So what is he leaving? His coach, MM, or nothing?
I think we need to get him into the Aggies. He's already with Asics. He's already in NorCal. On top of that I'm sure he and Sara would be a blast during lessons in metallurgy at camp, particularly after some NC style margaritas.
Ryan & Chad want to be near their kin folk in L.A.
He is leaving his coach who is the coach of MTC. He never truly took advantage of training partners. He was only part of the group in name.
What marathoners does Mahon coach now? Deena is out of commision. Hall is gone.

what do you mean? lessons in metalurgy? after NC style margarita's? do the halls even drink? they were not drinking at a party at the red sea restaurant about 3 weeks before halls first marathon.

You asked what marathoners does he train, not what Kenyan-Ethiopian Challenging American marathoners does he train. Nothing wrong with Cox never breaking 2:13, nothing wrong with Smyth sticking with the half and other USARC distances.

I have no idea why this part of my message was cut out but for the record:
Cox's marathon PB is just under 2:14 already and theres no chance he'll EVER knock 50 seconds off it? Really?
McKeeman was top 15 in Chicago last year, not bad for someone who is 'just a training partner'
Whether she likes it or not Rhines has run sub 2:30 so going back to the roads is probably best especially after such a dismal track season this summer.
Patrick Smyth.. I don't know what his marathon time will be but I'm sure it'll be fast
Hastings I don't know that much about. Cragg, has been disappointing for the past 2 years but look at his times from 2007- definitely a class above his college days. I'm sure his marathon will be equally impressive..

If Ryan, Sara, and Chad train together and enjoy a career of ups and downs, I won't knock them. Must be nice to have a wife and brother to enjoy such a time consuming lifestyle with.
Cox has run one race since CIM besides shit 5ks on the road. he's a publicity stunt, not an elite athlete

I agree with you, but at some point he has to say 'well that training alone in a crowd didn't work too well did it?' and see if he needs something else.
or maybe it did work, who knows. 4th at boston is very very good.

You are correct.
OTC is stupid for Ryan. Kenya makes no sense if you plan on training alone. He does not want people to run with.
Cragg, Smyth and Hastings are the ones with the best potential left in the Mammoth group. What's going to be done with them?
Ryan and Sara will move to Flagstaff to train and be coached by Jack Daniels. He's a long time friend of theirs so it's a good fit.
