How fast do you have to run in track or in the actual XC race?
Obviously the time in XC will depend on the course. As far as track credentials go, I think that you have to be at least a 30:30 guy. More likely these days that you have to be about 30:teens or better.
30:10 was the last time to make NCAA's last spring in DII.

Looks like it's top 40. I thought it used to be top 25 americans, but I guess that has changed. The fields have also been expanded over the years, so I guess it makes some sense.
