No question that Boaz' course mistake is understandable. Also no question that Boaz seems to be a great guy, but his behavior afterwards was a shame after only his 1st unsuccessful collegiate race. So what though...we all make mistakes.
More importantly, the foreign/dumb posts labelled on him are not due to him being black, but that he is the defending champion with a high profile, is from a nation that produces the world's best runners and also that his major (Geography) raised some eyebrows (although a post outlined its surprisingly great resulting careers).
The example made with A.Cragg is somewhat valid, except that we know so little of him. The more we knew about Alan Webb, the more he was criticized. In addition, the Kenyans are seen as the elite running nation. Therefore, having a high profile Kenyan runner on your team is sometimes seen as having an unfair advantage and leads to trashing. Cragg is foreign, but he is not from that great running country, nor a champion. Remember, we haven't seen critcisms on the BYU runner.
Many posts criticizing Boaz have been unwarranted, but they have not originated from him being black. Additionally, I have never seen a racist (black/white) comment by a regular poster in here and do not like us being called as such.
