Okay seriously, how short is the Louisville course???
Okay seriously, how short is the Louisville course???
Okay seriously, how many coaches have measured this course to find out that it was indeed 5k/8k. Go play frogger in traffic
well apparently this is one of the people who p.r.'d by 2 minutes today!! This course is clearly short or EXTREMELY fast. Calling this course "legit" is like claiming Auburn has a full 8k course! get real bud and go race a full 8k course!
Tom Sawyer is not short. The course starts on soccer fields and is in a well manicured flat park, thus its fast. It gets slow with rain... NAIA nationals there a few years ago are proof of it. Remember the course is not at altitude, does not have treacherous footing, and does not have undulating hills like the Griak course.
Meanwhile, EP Tom Sawyer is not a soccer complex like the site of Memphis Twilight, nor does it have ample amounts of pavement like Willamette out in OR. Also remember that most of the courses in SO Cal. are practically road events.
I'll put this out there, but assume that you are from the midwest, east, or mountains. There are many fast courses in the south and out west. Isn't it nice that everyone runs on the same course for their respective national meets?
it is 8k it is not fast it has 3 plus hills and rolling hills all over .You guys say this after almost every race get off the internet and go there.I ran in look at where we are in the year.People peak for this race.To some it means going to the ncaa s or not.Its not faster then the missouri southern stampede it is a true cc course.Look who was there.I ran at eye opener at usc up state .I would that todays course is by far harder .Also there was a lot of wind for the later races. It ranks some where between osu cowboy course and the msu stampede. In the middle. The ncaa d2 meet is there in december of this year. The ncaa picks real good course s for that.So go f off.You are i bet the one who started the stampede thread 3 weeks ago.
Most importantly, the weather was 60 degrees F and sunny.(perfect)
Ok its clearly short I just want some conformation as to how much?
ran the course yesterday and ran to the tangents. dead on 4.98, raced today and followed the crowd, 5.03. Its not short.
Its also not challenging, there is no hill greater than 10ft in elevation change. its run almost to the ground. the ground was rock hard and there are ample amounts of straight running.
Its not out of range for Matt Hughes (louisville) to run 23:48, he is a 13:59 and 8:43 (steeple) track guy. That course runs like a track. Its a legit 8k and if you don't believe that, race it next year.

That is blatantly not true. There are a few places that slope up but they are not dramatic and not many. It may very well be a legit course but it is very very very fast especially if the weather is good. For christ sake you spend 400m running down a hard packed gravel road. I've raced it once, worked out on it once instead of racing it with the team and its a fun course to run specifically because it is so fast. That being said the times run there are not out of the realm of possibility when you look at the results. Barnabas Kirui ran 23:27 and if you don't think he is capable of that... just goggle his resume.
It was really, really dusty today. Still fast, still a legit course.
Sorry but I don't believe this course is legit. The Missouri Southern course is questionable and if you look there are guys who ran a minute faster than at that race. Also to the guy who says people peak for this race. Are you freaking kidding me? Who would peak for the greater Louisville classic. It is a meaningless race and for you to make this argument proves you have no clue.

people might peak for this race if the goal is a PR? i dont understand. pardon my stupidity.
I work the meets that the Greater Louisville Sports Commission hosts at Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville, Ky. It is actually designed to be a bit longer than 8k for men and 5k for the women just to keep times from being too crazy. It is simply just a fast course. It doesn't have the greatest footing in places and it does have a few hills, but there aren't any hard turns, it finishes slightly downhill and there is always great competition.
I have run faster elsewhere and my time here is in line with my current fitness. Also every mile is marked and no split was suspicious.
I measured it at 5.9324345 country miles. What are you all talking about?
Not short. Lerionka Koyiaki is a beast.
The 8K is unquestionably short.
Put it this way: we used to run on both that course and at Notre Dame.
The Louisville course ran considerably faster than ND (a pancake-flat golf course).
your mom is a pancake flat whore. stfu and race me at glccc
Must be something about Louisville. For years people "joked" about the Papa John's 9.8+ miler. Defenders said, no, it just runs fast. Then someone actually measured it and it turned out to be 200m short or so.
F*ck this sh*t! How about we run on a damned track?
