a bug flew in my eye on my long run. i got it out, but eye still itches/hurts

Several possibilities. There may be small parts still in your eye, perhaps under the upper lid. Try flushing with lots of water. Or, you may have scratched your cornea (corneal abrasion). Or the eye may simply be irritated from having something in it. It's your eye, so if it really hurts in the morning, see a doc.

This is why I started wearing sunglasses when I run. Even if it isn't that bright our I still wear my sunglasses.

Hopefully for you no real damage was done.

I've also heard of bugs flying into someone's eyes and freaking out when they get stuck there and are dying so they deficate and/or vomit everything out of their stomach into your eye. The feces/puke is microscopic so you can't see it.

Chances are if it's been over 24 hours you've already got an infection and your body will fight it off naturally sometime in the next 7-10 business days.
