Not sure why anyone hasn't posted on this yet, but Brooks Johnson has published his long take on Doug Logan's performance as CEO. After what Logan told the NYT, Brooks puts together a thoughtful and interesting read about why Logan was never right for the position, how he pushed for his exit, and why we are better off now:

So Brooks Johnson was gunning for Logan from the time Logan started. I don't think that helps the Board's case much. And Johnson really needs to get an editor or learn to proofread. His blog starts out as a reconstructed conversation from two years ago and then apparently lurches into the present day.
Of course what both sides are proving is that both sides were to blame and that the USATF is thoroughly dysfunctional.

No, no, no, LetsRun.com should hire Brooks Johnson as their proof reader and editor, his sense of quality control matches theirs perfectly ;-).

The best thing about this who broo-hahah, is that it begins the off season and will give us a spectator sport to follow here.
Although I thought Logan was the wrong guy for the job (as is the whole immature and inept board), and wanted him gone...they still need to honor his contract and pay him.
Sadly, Logan will fight for what he is owed, with more passion than he advocated for the sport.
In the end it is all nonsense because USATF needs to be broken up into smaller organizations. Like ATT back in the day.
As to his belief that Houston was the right place for the Marathon Trials. Yeah, Houston shares complete climate similarities with London...
Been a few years since was in London for the marathon and the weather was fine then. Save for one year, the weather is always perfect in Houston.
Houston won simply because of the money. Houston had the best for our sport. Of course ideally if USATF had the sponsors they should would the M trys & O trys around to different spots each time with a 20 year no repeat rule. But that's not the case today, hence Masback & his corruot cronies at Nike & NYRR.
And who was on the selection committee that put Doug Logan into that position......errrr......Deanne Vochazter......formerly......Deanne Johnson........

Track and field athletes (and athletes in most sports) succeed in spite of the NGB and the USOC, not because of them.
Doug Logan is impressing me much more now than he did during his entire CEO tenure.
I can't speak to much of Brooks Johnson's rant personally, but his comments about how Logan embraced every reporter and every microphone are extremely wrong. Actually, he ignored most reporters and did not cultivate relationships with them or even try to get to know who they are,
The BoD wants a cut of the money that the hard work of elites makes for USATF through lavish trips and perks. Logan wanted to professionalize USATF and cut out the volunteer leeches who comprise the BoD. Logan got fired for not agreeing to pay the BoD to play. How long will this go on ? Can Doug Logan, Bill Roe, and USOC work to decertify the USATF BoD and/or work with Congress to split USATF into a two units. 1) A TV Media company based in Los Angeles with control of Elite T&F / LDR, and 2) Indianapolis for the rest.

Logan was hired by a bunch of morons, and then got fired by a bunch of morons- the fallout will be awesome
(I ran for Brooks) The irony of his rant is the only person with a bigger ego than Logan is Brooks himself. I've never met someone more arrogant than Brooks. He can be completely hateable. Logan is correct...most of these board members, including Brooks, are only interested in power and perks.
