2 simple new laws that would drasticly cut crime and reduce taxes

Another law that would mandate new personnel policies for federal, state, county, city, public school, public university, etc. employee pay, work rules, benefits, would slash labor overhead by 80%. Pay, Medical, Dental, Life should be cut to private levels. Retirement cut altogether. Work rules that make gov't worker do actual work, and duplication of jobs eliminated. 20 year military early retirement and civilian safety worker early retiremnt should be banned. Also an elected commission of private citizens would oversee personnel policy and budget issues for every gov't agency.

Most important of all, public sector pay raises cannot exceed that of the private sector that supports them.

Huh? If you have a kid that's a screw up you lose all government assistance?

While I certainly believe that many parents are doing a terrible job and are largely to blame for their kids actions, I don't think you can make such a blanket law.

If you put this law into effect I think you'd eliminate nearly 100% of the absentee parents who don't know or care what their kids are up to. If junior screwing up would potentially take away their meal ticket, they dam sure would know where junior is and what he is up to. Note I said a felony crime not just a kid messing up misdameaner.

These two laws would also help eliminate the drug and gang problem in the country as well.

I am all for a saftey net in our society, but when we don't put practical conditions on that saftey net then we allow abuse and do not help our society.

No, the current system is dumb, and what is even dumber is the people who cry how unfair it is whenever anyone suggests accountability and and consequences should be added to tax payer funded handouts.

1) In order to get any govenment assistance such as welfare, food stamps, etc., you need to pass a drug test before you get your first check and at random times there after. Fail this test you are banned from getting government assistance again for at least 10 yrs. I have to take and pass a regular drug test to get/keep my job as a government employee why should other's standards be less for getting government money.

Great ideas as clearly the poor and powerless who have no say in the decisions made at the top are our big problem. Not the hundreds of billions in tax dollars paid to Wall Street firms so thei execs could continue to get multi million dollar bonuses, not the nearly one trillion a year spent on our military that oppresse other peoples putting us all at risk. You are real astute.

If I have to pass a drug test to get a job then you should have to pass one to get welfare.

The second suggestion would not work as intended. Government assistance under these would probably make people somewhat dependent on aid, and the blow to a felon of losing that aid would lead them to more crimes. You're giving felons relatively fewer consequences for their actions.

OP, you should really take a sociology class so that you can realize how impractical these recommended laws of yours are.

And the crime rate would increase exponentially. Gov't costs would just be transferred to more prisons, jails, etc. You're paying one way or another, pal. (I'm speaking to the OP). Have a shred of humanity about you.

OP you are a very naive youngster that has no idea of what you are talking about. Some day you will get out of the bubble you are currently living in and realize there is no easy answer to the problems you are trying to solve with simple, mindless, silly laws.

OKAY, deal.

But I'd like my 15-20% raises from the 90's please. Along with profit sharing, Christmas bonuses, a company car, social club membership, and so on.

If you don't want public sector to exceed private... then what can I expect when the private sector is rocking? I remember only getting a measly 2-3% raise back when the Dow was at 14000. Same as I'm getting now.

This is a favorite argument of private sector folks during recessions/economic downturns. I hope you make the same argument during bull markets. But I'm betting you don't.
