I was thinking before posting this thread about how to develop the speed endurance over the latter part of a season. One thought was to do 100s with short recovery in high volume, then progress to 150s, then 200s, etc while lengthening the recovery and lowering the volume.
For example:
1.30X100m w/30s rec
2.15X150m w/45s rec
3.10X200m w/60s rec
4.6X300m w/90s rec
5.4X400m w/150s rec
6.3X500m w/240s rec
7.2X600m w/full rec
All at ~800m pace. Or something like that at least.
Another was to start with longer reps and then cut them down in terms of distance and speed.
1.6X1000m @5000m pace
2.6X800m @3000m pace
3.8X600m @2000m pace
4.10X400m @mile pace
5.10X300m @slightly faster
6.12X200m @800m pace
7.16X150m @600m pace
