Has anyone attempted the doggy paddle as a form of cross training? Although I'm a good swimmer I find the doggy paddle to be more running specific. 45 minutes of doggy paddling is about as exhausting as a morning run. Plus the doggy paddle works the arms and provides a good upper-body workout. I haven't need to lift in weeks!
Now before people get angry, hear me out. My theory is that when you first throw a baby into a pool its natural movement is that of the doggy paddle. Humans beings have been conditioned to swim properly in a pool. Put all this technique has taken away from man's need to replicate running in the pool, which we attempted to do as babies. Therefore, in my humble opinion, it is best that runners do the doggy paddle instead of using all this fancy technique.
