Has anyone else heard that their records were taken away at NCAA's because a UCLA girl turned in their implements. The chains on them were too long and thus illegal and so their records were taken away but not their places. Why would they not get their places taken away as well? That's cheating just as taking drugs is.
Technically it's not cheating....the implements were weighed in and certified for competition. Once the compeititon begins, after warm-ups are complete, an implement can't be thrown out of the compeition but all implements are open for use by anyone in the field. In the weight throw when a record is broken the implement thrown is re-certified. They are known to get "stretched out" during compeititon with more throws, however, there are many ways of manipulating the implement.
The rules in this event need to become more specific because it is easy to bend the rules without breaking them and risking a DQ.
