I was just perusing Forbes Billionaires list and began wondering if I, or any other fanatical runners, applied the same effort to making money as they do to their miles would we be billionaires as well? The impetus for this consideration is I find myself unemployed in the very depressed state of Oregon and have been running 80-90 miles a week and killed it at a local 15k. Don't get me wrong, I have applied to every job under the sun here, but that is only after I get my 10-12 miler in. Like many on this board I am a Cornell graduate so I can't blame my unemployment on lack of education-probably only on lack of direction. Any other unemployed runners out there using miles as an escape.
