Watching Manzano recently, I hadn't realised before how small he is! He can't be much taller than 5'5". He must be giving away 8 or 9 inches on the likes of Rudisha. So his stride length is obviously shorter and his turn over must be greater.
A completely left field question, as I have absolutely no idea if it is the case, but if you could somehow take Manzano and (keeping him in the same proportion) increase him to the same height as Rudisha, would he necessarily run proportionately quicker?
In the HJ, clearly a guy who is 1.80m (c. 5'10") and is able to jump 2.25m, is really at a disadvantage over someone who is 1.95m who can jump 2.30m. Or is that an incorrect assumption also?
Appreciate any comments.
