A bloody battle is being waged over the heart and soul of the sport of track and field by several cut throat players including Letsrun, T&F news and several young, up and coming up starts. It is a cut throat, knock down bloody fight and at the end of the day only one player will be left standing...the one who is the most ruthless and cunning.

Makes for a good novel, don't it. Working title..."Danger - The Unauthorized biography of the world's most beguiling sport", starring the brothers Johnson of Letsrun, the senior citizens at Track and Field news, and a bunch of tech geeks at various track upstarts.

Well not quite. T&FN are the original rich fan boys who weasel credentials to the sport they love but never made a dime in magazine sales. LR and the others are the same, rich kids, who fake like they're real press but make all kinds of stupid mistakes and use other rich kids and high school coaches for volunteer writers, bloggers, photographers, etc. The fan boys hang out together in the press box and after the meet at the meet hotel and have a good old time talking T&F. There's no rivalry, no profit motive, no need for journalistic integrity when you live on someone else's fortune. What a life ! I'm jealous ;-)

They may use an auto search function to come up with the links they post but I do not think it is auto generated. A couple of the story titles have different titles from the actual stories they link to...which makes me think there is an editor at work in there somewhere. But yea they post spoof stuff all the time.

What I don't get is why bother putting up meaningless stories that no one is likely to care about. Like there was one on there a few weeks ago about Carl Lewis selling his house in LA. I'm like slow news days who cares about stuff like that.

If you're calling that a hoax you've either misinterpreted or misunderstood what happened or you are unaware of what a hoax is.

Track and field news, the magazine has to be profitable,I would think as they have what looks like almost a monopoly, at least in print format. I know magazine sales are down across the board, but how many track magazines do you have out there? I can barely think of two off the top of my head (I'm not talking running magazines now which tend to be skewed to a different audience). Plus they have the website and some sort of subscription service running. They probably make a bit of cash but this is track so I am not saying they are swimming in green.

Also I'm pretty sure Letsrun is profitable too. Wejo and Rojo should publicly release the numbers every month. Why not we are the ones who make the site what it is.

Realize that to have track meets you must have thousands of fanboy website managers, announcers, coaches, linux/apache IT technicians, certified officials, massage therapists, video camera operators, sound men, track crew members, spotters, statisticians, meet directors, golf cart drivers, rakers, photographers, TV directors, hurdles crew members, script programmers, you name it.

Really? When someone posted bogus results and they were listed on the front page, you wouldn't call that a hoax? I think you're confused about who doesn't understand what a hoax is.

heard that one at my first track meet at 11 years old. Guys floating rumors javelin related incident. Doesn't this ever get old?

It would seem some of you have way too much time on your hands. Perhaps I do as well for reading this garbage.

I read some posts, they have content, in-depth thought...and other's, the replies are simply ignorant, arrogant, and disgusting.

Let the writer's write and the runner's run.

If mroe people sought to contribute to the longevity and future of the sport with a "what can I do?" mentallity, perhaps we would not be tearing down teenage kids, American athlete's, coaches or elderly passionate fans of the sport.

Build up, don't tear down. The mentallity that you can post what you want at the detriment of other's is wrong and does not stimulate thought provoking discussion.
