Before the dust settle on his 12:55 5000m solo effort, Josphat Kiprono Menjo strikes again. This time in the mile where he goes 3:53. I would suggest this guy drops down the distance and concentrates on this two events as well as 3000m. The mile win was also a solo effort with runners up in 3:59(Adrian Blincoe). This guy could wipe out 3000m world record by end of next year. What ya think of this new sensation?

3:53 + 12:55 don't project to 7:20 and neither does 3:50 + 12:50. try again
-
Danny is just troll'n. He knows his record is untouchable. Just looking to excite the mob.
-
You missed the point. This guy is capable of at least 3:49 and 12:47 or maybe even better at the moment. He has not been tested. In both races, he had no competition nor pacemaker. Assuming we put a pacemaker, I think we could be witnessing a new K. Bekele and most likely better. You dismiss him at your own peril:)

Kiprono Arap Menjo is 30 years old. He seems to be finding his groove a bit late but it is working nonetheless.
-
He also did it in April albeit in the 10k. He seems to be on to something great.

I agree with you NativeSon. Menjo is red hot right now and he can be the next middle distance (3k and 5k) king. However he might just end up like Micah Kogo who ran 26:35 once and thereafter struggled to break 27:00 over 10000. The reason is that agents' main goal is to mint money. So they line up many races(including roadraces). The athletes(being from poor background) thinks it is a good opportunity to mint money as well. Two months down the line the athlete disappears and never to be heard of again. Agents do not care because there are so many upcoming athletes who can replace those getting injured. I hope Menjo gets someone like Ricky Simms who seems to manage his athletes well.

Very true. It is sad that this guy is getting it together so late in his career. If only he was in his early twenties. Yes, Ricky Simms is great. -
i hopeenjo run the reiti 3k next weekhe wont get the world record, but maybe sub 7:25 if the pacers do a good job and the weather cooperates.
-
Yes, who is his agent? And please stay away from the like of Mark Wetmore.
-
Break a 720 3k? I don think so, let me tell you mofos somethin. 58.7 seconds per lap aint slow.
-
exceptional times at some obscure meets probably with no testing. Red flag!!
-
are those times really that good enough to suggest a 7:25 or any tremendous 3k time?
Bekele has run 3:48-ish and 12:37.
Solo running isnt THAT much slower than competitive running, is it? -
He doesn´t have my PED´s.
-
Why is he avoiding the big names? Surely, with his talent, he could have been invited to atleast one diamond league meet.
-
Was it solo or did he have a now challenge?
-
and a 4:01 mile- Masters age 40 outdoor WR in the same race
-
You don't need a pacemaker to reach your peak.
-
Komen ran 3:46 and 12:39. That's what equates to a 7:20 3k. 3:53 and 12:55 - regardless of whether solo efforts - are a ways off of 7:20. The guy could probably break 7:30 in a rabbited race. But he won't touch DK's record any time soon.
