Watler Dix Lost Out on $40,000 by Not Running Zurich

WOW! Even if he was injured I think he still should've gone for it. It's the end of the season he can easily spend a lot of time recovering. Very surprising, I'd also like to know why the no show.

He's assured of a lane. There might be a question of how much of an appearance fee they would offer, but they did not refuse to invite him. But my understanding is that Dix did a number on his hamstring in London.

Dix has two Olympic medals so he's set for life. He doesn't need prize money. Zurich is only a TV time trial that the shoe companies make athlete's run for their contract. The only meets that matter to elites are the Olympics and IAAF Outdoor WCs.

I an athlete has a chance of winning they must be invited.

The invite includes 2 nights hotel(double occupancy*) and if you are on the top 25 list in the event they include travel assistance up to $300 US if in Eupope(receiptneeded) or up to $500US is outside europe.

The 200m is not exactly a marquis event. So who cares if Dix has 20 Oly medals. Walter Who?

I would disagree with you statement regarding the 200, but you know he also has a medal in the 100m, right?

Edwin Moses was a druggie. It was a well-established joke that he was on the "drug enforcement" committee. Why would you sully the names of these other fine "world champions". Oops, they weren't.

BTW Bill Cosby was a high jumper. Still love him.

? Zurich is not the season ending event. There's still Brussels.

Dix had MRI on Monday show that he has a dime size hole in his hamstring tissue. Major issue. Meet promotor didn't want him jogging the race so he cut him a deal to not show up and run. Not as much as he would of taken but enough and certainly Dix is paid enough to not sweat even $40k.

I heard from a source that the meet wouldn't allow him to run. He either had to withdraw or they would've kicked him out.....stating it wouldn't have been fair for him to go out there......

Set for life? He skipped a meet this season for "financial reasons". He's far from set for life, but the $40,000 probably wouldn't do anything to save him, perhaps give him an extra few months of running out of it.

I guarantee that guy is all bling, flashy cars and liabilities draining his accounts with no assets as back up.
