Hey guys, looking for some advice on here. So I've been running for 3-4 years now (I'm 19) and recently did a 10K and half-marathon last Spring (in March) with times of 38:55 and 1:26:23 respectively, however I barely did any taper for those. I feel in better shape now than I was then. I'm currently doing 80+ mpw (did 86 last week) and have gone 80+ 4 weeks straight so far and have consistently done 65-70 throughout the year (all runs are in singles, I have never done doubles). I'm hoping to just maintain 80+ until I do a taper. I do almost all my runs at sub-7:30 pace (usually around 7:20) except on Sundays which I just do a recovery run by feel, usually very easy. I'm hoping to do a fall marathon around middle to late November and probably a Half Marathon tune up early October. My schedule basically looks like this:
Monday: 11-12 mile run
Tuesday: Marathon Pace Tempo (6:52 pace) (started at 8.5, now at 11.5)
Wednesday: 11-12 mile run
Thursday: 11-12 mile run
Friday: 11-12 mile run
Saturday: 16-18 LR (am building up to at least 20)
Sunday: Recovery 5-7 mile run
For my Tuesday marathon pace runs, I warm up about 2 miles at MP+30 and then do the rest of my run at GMP. I started at 8.5 miles at GMP and just last Tuesday did 1.5 + 11.5 at GMP and it wasn't too taxing but it wasn't an easy pace either. My longest long run so far has been 18.3 miles which was at a 7:24 pace and it didn't feel too bad, my legs did start to fatigue at the end however.
So what do you think my chances are of sub-3? I'm thinking of doing either Richmond Marathon or OBX (I live in Raleigh, NC). What should I change around my schedule? Thanks.
