i have a peak road race in about 1 week (8 days) but had to go on vacation with the family for 1-2 weeks and got back. i had to run less to accommodate family time and i thought i wasnt eating that badly but when i got back i find that i have gained weight and am at my all time high. losing 5 pounds would mean 10+ seconds over a 5k which would be huge for me. could i just eat more nutritious food and try to lose the weight i gained? im 5'8 and at 140, my highest ever, no idea how i gained so much. i would love to be more like 125, but right now 130-5 is the most i can hope for.
if i eat lots of fruits, veggies, etc. that have less calories could i lose the weight and still race well?
