The enigmatic Manzano strikes again.
A bomb at Pre and Monaco but two 3:33's, two 1:45's and this 3:50 plus a second at USATF.
Pretty big hitters he beat in this race.
And don't forget Gregson--for a 20 year old, 3:52 is a pretty ridiculous talent!
Very good run...almost 3 sec. PB, beat Laalou and Gregson and young star Kiplagat and arch-nemesis Lomong.

Not much of an enigma unless you're a moron. You just described a guy who consistently races well, and yet has had two poor showings out of many.
Good race for Leo, but it's not surprising given his 1500 pr.
Now 8th fastest american miler of all time, behind Webb, Scott, Maree, Spivey, Harbour, Holman, and Falcon.
It's fair to say that Leo is hot/cold, running 3:33 one week and 3:45 the next.3:50 is dead on his 3:33 times, so he is very consistent on his "on" days.Makes me wonder what Torrence can do, given the track session they ran for Flotrack (where Leo left his lunch in the grass).

Forgot Lagat.
poor? thats an understatement.
If Leo had longer legs he might well be a 3:44 miler - Alas, he is shortie but still America's best miler
I am the biggest Manzano fan around but it is a mystery how he may perform.
After the USATF battle he runs very bad at Pre.
After coming back with a 1:45 he runs 3:42 at Monaco, way back of the leaders.
After a brilliant semis at Worlds last yeay he zig zags in the final to finish at the back.
After making the Olympic semis he DFL's in 3:50 in the semis.
Perhaps Leo runs inconsistent because he is probably not on drugs and his is human. Many of you guys act like a human being is not capable of having a bad race and if they do "OMG...what's wrong? There goes his career".

What do drugs have to do with it?
Yeah he's like the guys before drugs like Herb Elliot and Peter Snell, who would constantly swing between winning easily and DFL.

Um...being able to recover faster/race every week without blowing up.
I though this was a sarcastically titled bash thread about a horrible 1500m time Leo ran, so relieved to read it was a mile race.
since when was herb elliott anything but first?!?

Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Matt Choi was drinking beer halfway through the Boston Marathon
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
