Kaki stopped in front of him.
Kaki stopped in front of him.
Yeah, he pretty much was forced to a complete stop with 200 to go.
Wheating got screwed. Too bad.
It happens. He'll get over it.
Robinson totally ruined that race! As pacemaker, he just stopped on the track instead of moving to the side. That took out Kaki and Wheating.
That sucks, he was drifting back on the backstretch but I think he was biding his time for his 100 meter charge.
That is how it goes in world class meets. He has to learn that he can not sit in the back and out kick everyone in the last 100-200m. He needs to stay in good position near the front if he truly wants to win. He has the ability, he needs the correct tactics.
Yeah, that was bad.
Manzano ran great though. Right beside Symmonds and ahead of Yego!
Kaki got pushed infront of him. Why did Lewandovski move through the inside then decide to push robinson anyway? Although Robinson really should have been out in lane 3 by that point.
Lewandowski had to push Robinson out of the way!
So much for Robinson being the best Rabbit in the world.
And Kaki is a prick.
Robinson should have stepped off the track 20 meters earlier, as pacer he was unable to maintain a 3 to 4 meter gap. The pack was all over him by 550 meters - dufus should know better!!
Lewandowski has a really confrontational racing style - he'll do whatever it takes to get through, especially if the pace is dragging like it did.
Manzano looked like he had a ton left with ~50m to go, but couldn't decide where to go - started to head for lane 3, then took a diagonal cut as room opened up inside. If he'd had a straight shot, he might have challenged for the win.

Eh, even with good tactics it's hard to anticipate someone just stopping in front of you. It was a badly (badly) rabbited race, and Wheating was still doing his run in lane 2 in the back thing, but none of that means he should have assumed someone would stop.
I wouldn't pay Robinson a penny for that crappy pacing. His aweful running 400-600 is the reason Kaki dropped and Wheating ended up in the back.
On a non-American-centric note, what the hell happened to Kamel? Dude looked amazing last year.

You are absolutely right. However, running near the front leaves less people in front of you. Which decreases the odds that someone will stop in front of you. Plus you are in position to try and win (which is all Wheating says he cares about)rather than just hang on and hope they pull you to a fast time.
I didn't even really see Kaki stop. I saw Lewandowski push inside Kaki then push KD out of the way. Hell of a move! Then KD just jumps laterally out to outer lanes. Odd way the pacing went down. It wasn't fast enough to yield any kind of big time for Kaki.
I wondered why Wheating suddenly was so far back. He was actually not hanging off the back of the pack. He was in about 5-6th with Symmonds right behind him and in good contact for most of the race , and then moving up in the pack on the back stretch. Shit happens....
