I spent about 2-3 weeks in England and mostly London (I am American). Over the course of these few weeks, while I was running out, I got more than one person who made some remark about Paula Radcliffe as I ran by (like Hey it's the next Paula! or You keep training and we'll see you breaking the record!") and so on. Is this normal? I knew Radcliffe was big in England, but I'm impressed...

I run in London every day and nobody has ever said that I look like Paula. (In many ways this is a good thing.)
Sometimes people (little kids mainly) might exclaim that I might be training for the Olympics. (If only!) I run past the main stadium at the Olympic park a couple of times each week - it has been so interesting seeing it gradually do up over the last couple of years.
Almost everyone in Britain knows who Paula is: she was on quite a few adverts and all over the newspapers, especially in 2002 - 2004. She's a lot less out of public consciousness now however.
If you are a guy it's weird. If you are a girl it's probably pretty normal. We have the same thing in the US but people here say "run forrest run."
Of course I'm a woman or else that would just be strange. No, I don't really look like her...
Also, is Stephanie Twell really famous in Britain too?

Some ugly British chicks said 'run forrest run' to me a few years ago in central London by the Thames. I stopped and said some things I don't regret.

Nope, not really.
Although probably more famous than any American middle distance women are in the US as she does get a small amount of coverage in the national press, etc.
Dobriskey and Meadows are pretty well known, but none of them get close to Radcliffe.
Interesting. The last few years I have kept hearing about all the hype around her, and how it isn't just runner hype (the way say, Hasay is hyped) but mainstream media/London times type hype. And how there are articles about how she has a lot of pressure on her, laying off, etc.
Just the fact that Dobriskey, Meadows, etc. are known seems to show that pro runners are more well known in Britain than America... I doubt most people in America could name even a single current American runner.
