Does this just mean he's locked up, unable to sign for rival shoe companies? Not a bad investment - $1000 a year in stuff, and just in case he comes back strong, he's still under contract.

Nike makes more money on publicity an athlete creates, it doesn't matter the alignment of publicity negative or positive, its free advertisement every time Kobe appeared on ESPN without Nike having to put him there in a commercial.

Go google Angel Heredia. He made designer drugs for sportsmen and women that are years beyond what anyone can test for and read what he says about major sports companies like Nike, Adidas etc.

ACTUALLY, Kobe ended (paid 8 million) his sponsorship with adidas in 2k2. He was picked up by Nike in mid-late 2k3.

Except that Kobe was with Adidas, and Adidas DID terminate the endorsement deal with Kobe which is how he wound up with Nike. BTW, you write like a complete moron.

with the exception of lance armstrong who there may be something to it.

Not only did they drop him, but he was later assaulted at a bar by Nike employees and put in the hospital.

He had been one of their top guys and well respected in the sport for years, now he can barely work.
