I'm tired of my Nike Pegasus and want to try something else for variety if nothing else. Actually the last couple pairs have had little problems with them, so I'm not in love with those shoes as I was once upon a time.
Any advice in a similar shoe made by another company?

The new Saucony Shadow is supposed to be very similar to the Pegasus.

I work in a running shoe store in Canada called Frontrunners Footwear. A few shoes similar to the Nike Air Pegasus that I've found work well are:
1. Mizuno Wave Rider (light and durable)
2. New Balance 830 (super breathable, the 831 coming out in September is a nicer shoe though)
3. Adidas Response Cush (excellent fit in heel and arch)
4. Asics Gel DS-Trainer (don't worry about the medial post if you are a neutral foot because it doesn't overcorrect at all. Nice ride and low-profile heel.)

Thanks for the responses fellas.

I also love the Air Pegasus and have gone through many many pairs. Of these 4 shoes that Canada lists, the only ones I have tried are the Gel DS Trainers and the Adidas Response Cushioned.
The Gel DS Trainers are not at all like the Air Pegasus, IMHO. They're light, yes, but they have very little forefoot cushioning. I found them to be a wide, stiff shoe and do not like them.
The Response Cushioned, however are great. They're a tiny bit heaver than the Pegs and definitely more cushioned. I don't see them as a replacement for my Pegs, but they're great for those days when you want to run long on pavement and want to avoid an awful pounding. Overall, a very good shoe. -

How I still pine for those Anodyne's...

oh, you mentioned the anodynes. wow, i remember them. so great. equally a favorite were my adidas equipment cushion (part of the threesome of cushion/cushion-support/support) made back in the early 90's. the first generation of the OZWEEGO were great too. i was floundering in a bunch of Nike crap until i tried the Asics DS trainer, which is the only thing i feel really good in for training shoes. just thought i'd share the memories....
