Heard of him, but don't know a lot. What's his story? Great mark.
He looked strong - moving up through the field towards the end.
Where can you go online to see how this ranks all time among americans? I can't find such a list at the USATF site.

I'm amazed how fast the Kenyans run at the end of a steeple race. They are flying!

The last 1000m was the slowest of the race.
Wow, beat Mateelong and was less then 2 seconds back from the great Paul Koech. Phenomenal showing. Too bad Lincoln isn't still around. We would have a powerful 2-punch combo.
Go Dan! He's been steadily improving over the last few years and it's nice to see him get to where he's giving the Kenyans a bit of competition.
That list is slightly dominated by Mark Croghan.
14 of the top 31 times.....you can say that again...
croghan sure had a long run near the top of all time u.s. steeple times, as his times on that list date from 1991 to 2000! I remember watching Henry Marsh run a few times. As I recall, he would stay in the very back of the pack until the last lap or even well into it, and then make a ferocious charge up through the pack, usually falling short but giving it a good go. This style (see Wheating, Andrews, Wottle) probably reduced his ultimate ceiling and the number of times he has on the list, but he was fun to watch.
I remember when a couple of us sort of rolled our eyes when Robert Gary presented at USTFCCCA convention last year saying Huling would give a good run at 8:10 by 2012; looks like he was right. Congrats to Huling and Coach Gary; add him to the list of potential finalists at next Olympic Games.
What happened to Brian Olinger? He was walk-on at OSU who ran 8:19 steeple in college! Could Jeff See be another steepler in the works?
Olinger still runs steeple and made finals at USA's but DNS finals, injured?
Jeff See is way too big to steeple.
You don't just jump into the steeple.
