Kenyans have a short memory from race to race. Laalou is putting together a nice string of races. The next great Moroccan star?

Just watched the PRE video again, looks like Wheating and Kemboi are even with one lap to go and Wheating puts over a second on him on the last lap.

True, but if you look at Laalou, Kemboi and Komen it's a good sign for Wheating. I'm sure it's a confidence booster to know less than a week ago he outran the current 1500 world leader the entire last lap.

Lalau is superb but the kenyans have hundreds of Nicholas kemboi equivalents.They do not need to worry.Lalau is not the next EL G.

Major kudos to Kimutai. Most of the time it's hard to find a rabbit who will take the race through 400 slower than 55 low and still come through 800 under 1:53.

Laalou has been running 1:43 since something like 2004 (PB set in 2006), it's hard to imagine he has many (any) years of improvent left even though he recently made his focus the 1500.

However if Kenya has that many Kemboi equivalents it's surprizing that none of them were able to beat Laalou today.

My point is if Nicholas Kemboi was not in that race there could have been 100 other kenyans with same ability to win that race.Nicholas Kemboi is not even the best 1500M runner in Kenya.You forget there is Asbel Kiprop,Augustine Choge,etc.

I didn't forget. You did mention a couple though said 100. Obviously a gross exaggeration.

Last year there were 4 kenyans in the top 18 runners at 1500 meters, and 3 americans 3 moroccans.

And while Kemboi may not be the best Kenyan as of now in 2010, he is the fastest.

100 is not an exaggeration.Do you follow the Athleics kenya local competitions? If you do then you will have noticed the numbers and the performances( which are offcourse in altitude) .If you go today to a place called Iten in kenya you will probably find a higher number than the 100 i mentioned.

So there are 96 kenyans (or more) who would rather live in poverty than be able to buy a house for their family and live comfortably for the next 10 years. Ok. You do know there are talent scouts in Kenya of all places right? You do understand that agents stand to make money off of 3:30 1500 meters right? But I'm sure the runners, scouts and agents don't care.

They do not choose to live in porverty.They have no means of getting out there.The agents i.e the likes of Rosa etc can only manage to recruit afew at any one given time.Getting a VISA to travel abroad i.e to Europe for races as an individual is simply impossible for them.

I dint miss it>unlike you i dont just relly on the athletics results on IAAF.Iam actually know much more and have contacts in places like rural kenya.If you are so knowledgeable tell me more about the 4 kenyans you mentioned i.e more than the information that is on iaaf.

By the way remember the top american 1500m runner is a former kenyan.Also the many superb 1500m runners representing Bahrain and Qatar are also former kenyans.
