My Dr. this morning promised my 10 yr. old son he would be 6'4" - I'm 5'7" - WTF?

I believe you can make some projects w/ an X-ray of a hand. Not sure of the details.

Yes doctors can make a projection. It is based on genetics, but you can't just assume that because a couple is short that their offspring will be short.

If you have a record of how tall he was on his second birthday, not sometime at age two, but the birthday or very close, double that height to determine eventual height. Except for rather rare medical anomalies later in life that cause extreme growth, this measure is very valid.

I was an inch taller than your son on my tenth birthday and topped out at six feet, but my Dad was your height.

Your wife, at 5 foot 6 is not short. Percentage wise, she's probably the equivalent of a six foot tall guy.

You know those "vaccinations" your son has been getting from your doctor?

my parents are 5' 7 and 5' 8. my doc told me i'd be 6' - 6' 2 when i was a wee little tot. i'm 6' 1. i'd say yer doctor likely didnt just guess. if you get jealous, get him to start smoking now.

You never know. My mother is 5'3 and my dad is 5'10, but I'm 6'4.

The only hard and fast rule is that your son will be taller than his mother.

My son was about 5' 2" when he was 10. I am 6' and his mom is 5' 10" He is now 11 and almost 5' 5"

He will probably be 6 to 6-1

Have him take up baseball or golf.

I'm a woman, but I have really big hands and I remember my doctor telling me when I was in middle school that I'd be 5'10. I'm 5'6.5'

I was only 3'9" when I was 10 years old. Basketball worked out for me.

When I was 11 or 12, my doctor said I would be 6'2" based on hand x-rays. I ended up 5'8" but have extremely large hands.

Did your doctor give him some samples?
