Obviously Tiger Woods would be running and hitting it multiple times while Lagat would be running the whole time. I thought about this randomly on a run and I think it would end up being pretty close.

Huh? Tiger would have to run probably around 1100-1200 meters in order to effectively hit a golf ball 1500m. Do you think Tiger could run 1200m faster than 3:30 or so while carrying a golf club? I doubt Tiger can run 400m at 70 second pace let alone three back-to-back.
If Tiger had to chase his ball and hit it again, then he'd essentially have to run 1200-1250 meters. Lagat wins easy.
If tiger can hit a golfball 300m +/- (driver and tee assumed), then he'll have to run 1200m (with breaks) before his last club swing. I would guess that he could not run 1200m in 3:30ish, so Lagat would win.

Tiger would end up having to cover at least 1250 meters as 250 meters is about as far as he would hit a non-teed ball (the longer he tries to hit the balls, the more off line they'll possibly be, which would mean more distance to cover). That would require Tiger to cover slightly over 3/4 of a mile at well under 5:00 mile pace while hitting a golf ball several times. I don't think there's any way he could do that, especially since we don't really know the state of his knee and achilles tendon injuries. You also don't specify whether he's carrying a club(s) or not.
As far fetched as this might sound, I recall Earl Woods speculating about who would win a 1 hole speed golf match between Tiger and Michael Johnson.
There's no reason for Tiger to hit the ball more than once, as he'll have to run after it anyway. So, can he run 1250 meters in less than 3:30? Maybe in his prime, but I would be really surprised if he could now. It'd really have to be more like 3:00, anyway, because he has to line up the shot and the ball has to travel 250 meters
ok but what if Tiger was allowed to use a cart?
If he had a golf cart that traveled around 20 mph (which is fairly quick for a golf cart), Tiger would stand a chance. He would need to keep each shot in the fairway to shorten the time between shots and to maximize the distance of each shot. Unless he had a tailwind or it was downhill, he would need a 300 yard drive and 5 other shots averaging 240 yards. There are other factors too, like whether Bernard is running on grass or a cartpath, etc. Of course, if this is taking place on an airport tarmac, Tiger wins easily.
This also requires that the paved all-purpose path be a direct line for the ~1200m. If it zig-zags at all then it would add more distance and subsequently time.
Haha this is why I read LetsRun

This.
Tiger could do it of he is allowed to use a golf cart.
Otherwise, it would not even be close
What if Tiger waits a bit for the first shot - say 270 meters - than whips out a 1-iron and nails Lagat in back of head. He then can casually walk to wherever ball ends up (if no penalty stroke) then hit it the remaining distance at his leisure.
how about, could bernard lagat hit a ball 1500 meters faster than tiger woods could hit a ball 1500 meters?
assuming they both have to run after their balls and set up and hit again.
anyone know if lagat can golf at all?
Tiger would win because Lagat would race like a pansy and go through 800 in in 2:15+
"Of course, if this is taking place on an airport tarmac, Tiger wins easily."
Unless it's downhill he's not hitting a golf ball 1500m.
This is probably right. The longest recorded shot is like 680. I doubt tiger can hit twice as fair as he could. Now I believe Alan Shepard claims he drove the ball miles and miles but I am not sure there was second hand collaboration.

If this is on an airport tarmac I give it to Tiger. He hits two iron shots straight. Gets to about 800 then drags out the driver and drills one 700 meters. He runs the 800 in about 3:00 and wins no prob.
at altitude? are there sand traps? can we use unintelligent sex jokes in our responses?
So your asking if Tiger can run 1200m in the same time Lagat can run 1500? I'm gonna go with no
