If Millar gets/takes the head position, Wake still needs someone to coach the cross country teams.... the season starts soon and they still don't have anyone. No one left is distance. WHO anyone? WHO and WHEN??????
I got the job

Good question. If you're on the team I'm sure you've been working your butt off this summer regardless of who has been sending you e-mails. It's a pretty simple sport and cross is about 95% aerobic. Train hard, stay healthy, prepare for the big races.
Millar was offered the job... He'll bring in a flunky distance coach with very little experience that attended ND.. RIP Wake distance running

That's not very nice!John has been coaching a long time, so if he wants to win and do a great job why on earth would he bring in a flunky distance coach. He is going to get the best possible candidate. Stop hating on the Irish, your probably mad because you got denied admissions to ND. Either that or you applied for the position and didn't even get a look! John, is going to do a great job at WF!
BEST OF LUCK![quote]Suck of the Irish wrote:

I'm not sure how Millar will do running the program, but Wake's distance squad is among the worst in the ACC and the region. That is the previous coaches' fault.
If he was offered the job..... does anyone know if he has officially taken it?
It will be announced very soon.
this is terrible news for the distance/mid-distance crew...I don't know much about him but what I have heard hasn't been great. I hope it's just a rumor. they would be crazy to hire a sprint coach! We will NEVER have a great sprint program because the football coach won't allow his athletes to run. We just don't have a history of great sprinters. Even more, we already have a great sprint coach in Scott Hall! What the heck are the distance guys supposed to do still without a coach?!
Millar coaches the 800 guys at ND, and has a background with coaching distance guys as well.
One of his mid-d recent successes is getting Jack Howard down from a 1:56 hs guy to 1:48 this past year.
Spoken like a true distance idiot. Check Millar's background. He was a distance runner in college. He can coach sprints and/or distance. If the rumors are true and he is the next HC at Wake then that program will be on the rise quickly.

Yes, yes I do believe he is the next John McDonnell, is that what you are saying? I am ready and willing to buy in.
I can't believe Wellman could do this to this once proud distance program a second time. For the first time in years I have had hope for this program, and now it is all crushed. Did Wake not learn anything from the past 7 years?
While I am sure coach Millar's former athlete's like him, and he may have coached distance runners in the past, that does not qualify him to lead a top flight distance program. Under him the distance program will continue to stagnate, and will continue to waste money on sprinters and jumpers. While Wake might be able to have one or two good athletes in those events every few years, Wake will never be able to compete at a high level in the sprints/jumps/field events, and will continue to be in the bottom 3 in the ACC. The demographics of the school just don't attract those type of athletes.
Wake already has a qualified sprint/event coach, in Scott Hall. While he is an ass, he knows his stuff. Why would we get rid of him for the exact same guy. What the program needs is a qualified and experienced DISTANCE COACH!!!!
while it is great to hear he is a successful md coach, we are still in need of a better distance coach. Last years recruiting class consisted of 1 male sprinter and 8 or 9 distance runners!! needless to say, our program has been geared toward distance so we need a good distance more than a good sprint coach (mainly because we already have one!). Given Millara distance running background and Scott halls presence at wake, it would be interesting if Millar decides to become the distance coach. Whether that is likely or not, I have no idea. I guess we can only wait and see

No he's not the next McDonnell! Why you may ask... well Millar doesn't cheat!!!! No one cheats like a hog!

You can't kill something that is already dead, can you? Wake distance has nowhere to go but up on the men's side.
That is what my fellow young distance/md runners and I are going to change. And we can only do it with a great leader. I hope millar is the answer
It's been confirmed. It's Millar
confirmed where? you think they would announce it to the athletes first, we have heard nothing since Annie was let go
