J-Mee's 10.13 was wind aided, thus not a HS record.

Esposito would be a great choice. He truly is an excellent coach for women and men. If Scott Hall stays on then he could coach the sprints/multis as he has been doing.
Otherwise I think Gerard might be an interesting option - he's sort of stuck in oblivion at Mason but he has the know how to make a program great.
I can't believe Gibby would leave WM but what about Ed Moran - the current assistant?
How does everyone feel a program must build/commit their resources?
Can programs really excel a little in all areas or must they commit money and resources to one or two areas? Lets say distance and throws as opposed to trying to have a scorer or two from each of sprints, throws, jumps, mid-distance, distance, combined events, etc.
What is most appropriate for Wake Forest?
There are a lot of great choices within 1-2 hours of Wake, just look at some of the mid-majors that destroy wake on daily basis, and i don't think high point has a women's team???
Davidson, App, Liberty, UNCC, JMU, EKU, William and Mary, George Mason, Richmond All Seem Like far superior programs, surely there is a Head or a top assistant from one of those that would go ACC and get a pay increase????
Who are the Top 5 choices from SE Region? For Director and/or Head XC?

Maybe they should go out on a limb for the Head X-C and distance coach and interview Craig Virgin. He was on nine or ten U.S. World X-C teams and won the individual title twice (only American to win). He is more of an artist coach than a scientific coach which works well with a variety of athletes. He has credentials, more from his own background, but when the World Champ and eight-time top American at various NCAA championship races in track and X-C knocks on your door, you have to listen as a recruit. Food for thought...
Not a chance

The wake forest kids wouldn't ever get home from practice because he wouldn't shut up about himself. Great great runner who deserves to be praised but he's over the top arrogant.
Great athlete doesn't mean great coach. More often that not it means bad coach.
If he wants to coach, let him prove it at the HS or lower level college levels.

The sad part about your statement is just how far Wake has fallen as of late. The men have been bad for a number of years now. But they were GOOD when I was in college. The Southeast region used to be the current Southeast and South regions combined. It was HUGE. Something like 86 D1 programs in the region. The fact that Furman's course could handle that is why Furman hosted the XC national champs. Anyway, Wake won that region (a few times I think) back in the 90s. A few other times they were right up there near the top. They had a very good team. It's been a while since that, but still there is a history of success at Wake which has been lost.
The women have been one of the top 10 programs in the country as recently as 2007 when I last lived there. Michelle Sikes and company made up and excellent team. That region sent 7 teams to nationals I think and Wake won the region a couple of times right around those years.
Bennett has had success as a coach, and with her own recruits.
George Watts
Quite possibly a good choice. But 1) would Watts ever leave UT and 2) would Wake want to hire someone up there in years? I guess for a head coach that's what you want.
Jason Dunn!

Hell they hired Dellinger as a placeholder for a year. I'm not really sure that XC and Track are on Wellman's radar.
Watts is a good recruiter, a great coach at a range of events, very well known and respected, and is not so old that he couldn't spend 10 years somewhere as HC.
Now, maybe the Wake job is not good enough to matter to him. I don't know.

I agree with most posts that this is potentially a very good job. But Dunn passed on the head job at UVA to take the gig at Stanford. I highly doubt he would leave for the job at Wake.
Knowing the situation personally, I can tell you they are interviewing Ben Thomas of Va. Tech.
Dude you can't just slander and give no details....Put up or shut up... sketchy like?.....Winning? Maybe WFU needs winning. Just a thought................

Simmons won't be able to pull his sketchy shit in D1...he's better of bending/breaking rules on the d2 and NAIA scene.
Esposito would be a great fit at the University. He is a fantastic coach and has done wonders for High Point.
Personally, I think Wake should split the programs and hire a head men's and head women's distance coach. Maybe keep Scott Hall on for the sprints. I don't know if this is actually a feasible possibility financially, though.
